If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have seen that last week I had a few days down in London. I had been invited down by Trek America to attend an event about a new trek they were launching for 2015. Without further ado- I give you (in the X Factor voice) Trek Vs Food!
In my build up to America this year I was mainly excited about 2 things- 1 seeing amazing things and 2. eating amazing food, in no particular order. I wouldn’t class myself as a foodie but, like a lot of people, I love food. I am always up for trying new things and I think America has some of the best food on offer in the world.
Trek America had put on a feast in a cute little All Stars bowling alley in London with a spread that would make Henry VIII jealous. A collection of bloggers and media professionals got to enjoy a host of mini american classics such as pulled pork, corn dogs, burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese and if you were brave enough the american food challenge which would test the best of stomaches. I’m a wuss and was one of the many onlookers cheering on the 5 brave contestants. After some nibbles and the official introduction to what Trek VS Food was about me and the lovely girls from Lil Miss Chickas and Hayley Musson took on the bowling… I think we could definitely compete for the UK! (Or not!)
For any of you thinking of doing a trek I would definitely consider this one, not only do you get to try some of the East’s best grub you also hit some of America’s iconic landmarks. The plates on offer have been tried and tested with bold claims of the ‘best darn dogs on the planet,’ and with names such as the ‘nasty biscuit’ your definitely going to need an elastic waistband for this one! Fear not though, With optional activities such as bike rides in Washington DC and dancing the night away in New Orleans you’ll have worked it off in time to make room for that 11lb pizza in Atlanta.
As your eating your way around the US you’ll be experiencing all the great things that Trek America are known for. With an awesome tour guide leading the way and your new best friends still on fire from the failed attempt at the Voodoo challenge in Savannah you’ll be having the time of your life fulfilling all of your senses. Make sure you download a few episodes of Man Vs. Food to get some tricks from the legend that is Adam Richman whilst your on the road and you and your buddies will have cracked the challenges in no time!
All you need for this trip is a healthy appetite and an open mind, trying new things is a great part of travelling and this Trek America tour definitely lets you do that! Be warned when you read the brochure your mouth will be watering and your stomach churning- anybody with a love for food…this trek is for you! But as trek recommends… you may need to book an extra seat for the flight home.
There new 2015 brochure includes loads more info on this trek and others. They’ve introduced a couple of new ones for next year so definitely take a look. I’ve been looking and a few have definitely caught my eye. I think it’s time to start saving again!
