With 2014 coming to an end I felt it only right to look forward with eager eyes and share with you where I’m hoping to go in 2015. This year has been a bit of an eye opener for me, I have always dreaded my last year of uni because it finally means I am a fully fledged adult. No more messing around, no more splurging on silly things and sleeping in until 12pm, I’m gonna have to really buck my ideas up and finish uni with a good idea of life… Well that’s what I thought I was going to have to do when I started my degree back in 2012. This year I have done a 360 in terms of life choices. I’ve decided I’m not quite ready for all that serious business and I want to do what a lot of people do and see the world.
2014 was my tester year. I travelled solo for the first time in my life, I made my own decisions in places I didn’t know like the back of my hand. No I don’t feel like I’m a completely changed woman but I do feel like the little things are what have changed how I think about things. This is my entrée to the travelling lifestyle, and I am so ready for my main course. For the last 6 months (ish) I have seriously looked at travelling as a life choice and not as a thing people do for 4 weeks of the year.
After speaking to so many inspiring people who I have met through my blog and just from being a chatty person I am so excited to see new places and experience new things. 2015 will be my year of travel, it will also be my year of graduating university. I suppose they should be swapped around and this is something I’m working on, I spend a lot of time on the internet looking at my next home when really that wont be possible if I fail my degree. I’m sorting out my travel plans now so I can focus on finishing university and making this dream of mine come true. (Sounds very Disney I know!)
So what will you guys be reading about?! Well if you follow me on my social media channels (which you definitely should!) you’ll see that I booked my first trip of the year last week and I’m going to Budapest! Oh my gosh I’m so excited. I have read so many amazing posts about this place I didn’t really feel like there was any other choice but to go. A very good friend and I are heading out mid January just for a few days to see what the great city has to offer. The flights and accommodation were SO cheap and I honestly can’t wait to explore and tell you guys all about it. Any suggestions of what to do or were to go, do let me know!
After my trip to Budapest I will be doing what every good third year student does and focussing all of my attention on finishing my degree. I have until May to get everything in and make a kick-ass documentary to make sure I finish with a decent grade. This will be my only focus over these next few months so I will be a busy bee filming lots of great things in Manchester. Speaking of Manchester I have some great ideas for the blog which will be based on living as a student in Manchester. I’m talking were to eat, what it’s like to study here and why the north is THE BEST place to be in the UK (totally not biased.)
After I finish I have plans to do a summer camp either in the US or in Croatia. I have wanted to do Camp California in Croatia for a while now and after reading what Mel at If You Wanna Go Just Go said about her time there, you will soon see why. I am also debating whether to head stateside again, I loved my Trek America Trip and really do want to experience camp life, I have looked at going with AmeriCamp and seeing what they have to offer. If I do go I’m going to try to head to the East Coast and knock New York off of my bucketlist. Keep your eyes open for a definite announcement later in the year.
Finally the big one for me and my biggest money saver this year is heading out to Australia to start my working holiday visa. I am aiming for the end of 2015 to give myself enough time to save up a substantial amount of money to travel a little first and then get a job. Australia has always been a dream of mine and this year it feels like it’s right for me, in between uni and life I want to live and I guess it’s my way out of getting out of reality for another year. I will be looking at living on the Gold Coast or on a cute little Island called Cocoa Island which looks absolutely A-mazing. I want to go out there with no worries and no baggage (I will be taking a suitcase!) I get giddy just thinking about getting on that horrifically long plane ride and flying to pretty much the other side of the world.
So there you have it, no there aren’t 26 countries or 12 cities but there are BIG changes. This year will be a time of change, and I’m going to do my best and grab it by the balls and not let go… I’m in for the long haul, and this is just the beginning.
What are you doing in 2015? Any travel plans or big things happening? Let me know!
